Who is T.R.E.W.?
T.R.E.W was born of not only a need for a safe refuge for Equines who are victims of abuse and/or neglect, but also from the perceived need for a raising of awareness in relation to the issue of, and attitudes towards Equine Welfare as it stands at this time in this country. T.R.E.W began with the meeting of a horse named 'Scruffy'. You can see his story on Scruffy's page. This meeting inspired the inception of what was initially a small program, which involved the rehabilitation, recovery, care and rehoming of horses in need of the opportunity at having a secure, happy, and healthy future. Triple R Equine Welfare Inc. is now a 100% volunteer run not for profit incorporated Equine Welfare Association (no. A0050043E). No wages are paid to any Committee members. T.R.E.W is also endorsed under the Income Tax Assesment Act 1997 as a Deductible Gift Recipient (4.4.6 Animal Welfare Charity). All donations to T.R.E.W over $2 are Tax Deductible. Any funds available to the organisation to facilitate the various aspects of T.R.E.W's work are obtained through fundraising ventures. We are a group made up of horse owners from various backgrounds and disciplines, all of us having long been frustrated with the prevalence of horse neglect, abuse, and abandonment in this country. It is a huge issue, and the roots of this problem run deep. We work together, pooling our various skills, talents, and resources, in an attempt to make a meaningful difference in the lives of as many horses as we can reach, whether that be directly, through hands on rehabilitation, our research projects, or through the raising of awareness and education. To learn more about T.R.E.W's projects, please click here. We are an open organisation, and encourage involvement from any interested parties. We would love to hear from anyone who feels that they may have something to offer our work, whether it be skills, advice, or simply to let us know of your concerns in this area. The new T.R.E.W Forum is an excellent means of staying in touch, discussing any issues that you're interested in, and following the goings on of the Association. The Forum is also an excellent means of seeking help/support in a friendly and non judgemental environment, and is also a great equine social network made up of members from all over Australia. Please have a good look around, and thank you for taking the time to visit our site. Please note: T.R.E.W does not have the legislated powers that would enable the organisation to seize Horses. The only Australian welfare organisation that does have the legal authority to do so is the R.S.P.C.A |
